Route Description

The aim of this walk is to combine the coastline of North-East Corfu from Nissaki until Avlaki (near Kassiopi) so that the trekker can see the picturesque coves, unspoilt pebbly beaches while walking the paths along the shore. The trip starts from Nissaki (Krouzeri beach), we then see the quaint hamlet of Agni and the beach of Gialiskari then reaching Kalami where the famous English writer Gerald Durrell once stayed. Our next stop is the bay of Kouloura where we will see the Agnelli villa (owner of Fiat) which literally sits on the edge of the water and then onto Kerasia. The path from Kerasia till San Stefano is one of the most famous parts of Corfu, it includes secluded bays decorated with expensive villas owned by well-known English owners, hence the name, Kensington-on-Sea. Here you will also see the tower of Lord Rothschild estate. At San Stefano, cosmopolitan in its own way, we rest for a snack, while watching yachts coming and going in this superb bay. The last 4kms are through the area called Erimitis which is under the protection of ‘Natura’, with its 3 small lakes, pebbly beaches which are only accessible by paths or sea. Finally we reach our destination which is Avlaki where you have the choice to either swim or eat at one of its tavernas.
